Healthy Life HRA is the benchmark for Medicare Annual Wellness Visits
When delivered by a qualified provider, Healthy Life HRA software satisfies all the requirements for Medicare Annual Wellness Visits (MAWV), is easy to integrate into a provider’s existing practice and workflow, and provides an excellent patient experience.
Requirements of MAWV:
The Affordable Care Act of 2010 includes new benefits intended to improve the health of older adults with no out-of-pocket costs to the patient. The MAWV requires a Health Risk Assessment (HRA) that can be completed in 20 minutes or less. After the HRA, a consultation with a provider and a personalized prevention plan are also required.
Benefits to Providers:
The MAWV provides an opportunity for providers to engage with patients, improve quality of care, identify areas for screening and preventive care services, and optimize payment opportunities. Billing uses one of two HCPCS codes: G0438 – Annual Wellness Visit, Initial; G0439 – Annual Wellness Visit, Subsequent. The codes have Relative Value Units of 4.99 and 3.26, respectively.
Why Healthy Life HRA?
Healthy Life HRA contains all of the questions required by Medicare, takes 20 minutes or less to complete, and provides a comprehensive report with a personalized prevention plan. Responses and computed risks are stored electronically, improving record-keeping and making subsequent Annual Wellness Visits more productive, while additionally displaying longitudinal intra-individual information. Solutions integrated with most electronic health records are available.
Healthy Life HRA risk algorithms and report recommendations are sourced from a robust array of guideline statements, mortality data, biomedical research, clinical studies, population-level epidemiologic estimates (from Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance data, The National Institute on Aging and the National Cancer Institute), and multiple environmental/occupational health studies. Healthy Life HRA also leverages branching logic to provide the most efficient patient experience. In contrast with older HRAs, Healthy Life has extensive visualization of risks to improve patient comprehension and facilitate communication with care providers. Our Risk Age calculation gives patients a clear understanding of their current health risk factors, and establishes a framework for providers to have productive discussions with actionable takeaways.
